Deep-Sea Pipeline Hydraulic Pumping System
Pumps hydraulic oil at 3.5 L/min through an 85 mm pipe at 17 MPa, controlled remotely from 1.3 km away.
The deep-sea pipeline hydraulic pump control system is built to pump hydraulic oil through a closed-loop circuit. It can be operated remotely from 1.3 km away, while continuously logging pump rotations to compute flow. Inside an 85 mm bore pipe at 17 MPa, the system delivers a stable 3.5 L/min flow rate.
The pumping module consists of a gear pump, transition flange, reducer, motor, servo drive and fiber-optic media converter. Surface-side commands travel through 1.3 km of fiber to the subsea servo drive, which actuates the motor and gear pump while telemetering RPM and flow back in real-time.
